Nigeria Police Service Commission

The Police Service Commission (PSC) in collaboration with the Nigeria Police Force is currently conducting a major recruitment exercise for 50,000 police constables for the 2025/2026 intake.

The exercise began following a directive from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, to strengthen public safety and expand police manpower nationwide.

Applications are being accepted online through the official recruitment portal.

Nigeria Police Recruitment Overview and Application Portal

The official recruitment exercise is being managed jointly by the Police Service Commission and the Nigeria Police Force.

The recruitment is for General Duty Constables and Specialist Constables.

The official application portal for the 2025/2026 recruitment is https://npfapplication.psc.gov.ng. All applications must be submitted online through this portal.

Applications submitted through unofficial websites, social media links, or recruitment agents are not valid.

The recruitment exercise is FREE; the PSC has warned applicants that no payment is required at any stage.

Eligibility Requirements for Nigeria Police Recruitment

To be eligible for this recruitment, applicants must:

  1. Be a Nigerian citizen by birth.
  2. Possess a valid National Identification Number (NIN).
  3. Be medically, physically, and psychologically fit for service.
  4. Have no criminal record or pending legal issues.
  5. Meet age requirements:
    1. 18–25 years old for General Duty Constables.
    2. 18–28 years old for Specialist roles.
  6. Hold minimum education qualifications:
    1. Five (5) credits in WAEC, NECO, NABTEB, or equivalent, including English Language and Mathematics for General Duty.
    2. Four (4) credits with relevant trade certificates and work experience (usually minimum three years) for Specialist roles.

Physical and Additional Requirements

All applicants must be physically fit and capable of meeting the demands of police service.

General Duty applicants must also meet specific height standards:

  1. Male applicants must be at least 1.67 meters tall.
  2. Female applicants must be at least 1.64 meters tall.
    Female applicants must not be pregnant at the time of application and throughout the recruitment training period.

Applicants should be of good character, free from financial or criminal embarrassment.

Specialist categories may require additional professional certifications or licences, such as driving licences for transport roles.

  2. Create an account using a valid email address and phone number.
  3. Complete the online application form with accurate personal, educational, and contact information.
  4. Upload the required documents in the specified formats and sizes.
  5. Select your preferred category (General Duty or Specialist).
  6. Review all information carefully before submitting the application.
  7. Print the acknowledgment slip or confirmation page for future reference.

Documents Required for Application

Applicants should prepare and upload scanned copies of the following:

  1. National Identification Number (NIN) slip.
  2. O’Level results (WAEC/NECO/NABTEB).
  3. Birth certificate or age declaration.
  4. State of Origin certificate.
  5. Local Government Area (LGA) certificate of origin.
  6. Recent passport‑sized photograph in the required format.
  7. Trade test certificates and professional qualifications for Specialist roles.
  8. Valid driver’s licence where applicable.

Recruitment Timeline

The recruitment exercise officially opened on Monday, 15 December 2025.

The closing deadline for applications is Sunday, 25 January 2026.

Candidates should submit their applications before this deadline, as late submissions will not be accepted.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited for screening, physical verification, medical and aptitude tests after the portal closes.
